Unlike the German and Dutch Exact-Train wagons, these SNCF wagons are delivered in a soft cardboard box, held in a simple thermoformed plastic shell — this is not a criticism.

Each wagon comes with a fairly extensive spare parts bag and another bag containing three barrels.

The body is finely engraved. The shunter’s and coupler’s hands are metal; the other attachments are plastic. Only the lantern holders remain to be fitted, as they protrude outside and are very exposed. I’m not sure that they are of the correct type for French wagons. The doors are sliding, although their slides are still very thin. However, they cannot open fully.

The underframe is detailed, but not more so than in recent productions by other manufacturers. The buffers are spring-loaded, but curiously and unlike the rest, their bodies are not detailed.

The too shiny wheels are all insulated. The flanges are 1.1 mm, which is a lot. The back-to-back wheel distance is 14.2 mm, which is a bit small compared to the NEM standard (14.5 ± 0.1); the axle length is 24.6 mm. There are no brass bearings, but the running is good.

Both wagons are registered at the very beginning of the UIC marking (1965 and 1966) and as such should have this registration in a frame. This is the case for one, not for the other, but this is not impossible, of course.

The original wagons were built in about 28,100 units by the Deutsche Reichbahn from 1938 onwards. 6,150 units were equipped with a handbrake bridge. They are characterized by their long wheelbase (6 m), which is supposed to improve their running capability. Welded construction. 1,576 wagons of this type were given to the SNCF as war damage (1945).
