Tillig 74485

Type

Sleeping car of the Soviet Railways (Sovetskiye Zheleznyye Dorogi, SZD) type Y WLABm.

UIC number Revision date
52 20 70-80 364-1 16.09.93

167 g; 132 g after removing the ballast (NEM: 112 to 146 g).

Original model from Sachsenmodelle. Rather coarse engraving: painted tail lamps, no handrails, no inserted cables. The interior fittings are bent. I had to glue them with Kibri glue (disassembly is easy). So a little expensive for its quality, close to Piko’s.

ø 11 wheels, axle length 24.4.

Modifications

  • Wheels and axles painted (blend of Humbrol grey No. 32 and rust No. 113).
  • Ballast (35 g) removed.

Series of 300 coaches, 52 20 70-80 205 to 504, built from 1978 to 1980 by Waggonbau Görlitz (GDR).

The exchange code 52 means international non-air-conditioned variable gauge car (1435 to 1520).

Quotation of Pierre B, Loco-Revue forum.

The coaches of this series have a very characteristic window spacing on the corridor side, with an absence of window corresponding to cabin side to the smaller window in 2nd position from the left. They also don’t have large grilles above access doors because they are air-conditioned.

See the thread on the Loco-Revue forum.
