Comments

Era III.

The end handles are very fragile. The wheels have a diameter of 11 mm, as usual at Roco. I don’t know if it’s OK for a Belgian wagon, but, anyway, 11.5 wheels are not suitable (they rub on the chassis).

History

This wagon called “Bremen” was manufactured in Germany from 1943 (so-called war manufacture) in 7200 units. Wagons of this type were ceded to other railway administrations as war damage.

According to Loco-Revue Real Railways Special Issue No. 2, 75 of these ex-DR wagons were got back by SNCF and were assigned a UIC number in the range 21 87 103 0 000 to 2 039 Glm 1.51.

As for this wagon registered in Belgium, it is part of the series No. 4.415.000 to 4.417.999 which includes types of varied internal length (from 7.70 to 9.22 m). Source: Matériel ferroviaire à marchandises (Belgian Railways) - 1961, in PDF, on the tassignon.be website.

Main characteristics — usable length: 8.9 m; usable area: 23.7 m2; tare: 9.7 t. These wagons are easily recognized by their axles close to the body ends.
