Comments

Global appearance very satisfactory, with Piko’s usual simplifications: underneath not detailed (little annoying), moulded handrails. The steps, not mounted, are easy to assemble, and they hold without glue. The windows are perfectly fitted, the markings are clear.

The bogie clips are a little hard, and their plastic is relatively brittle. The wheels are not burnished.

The weight is a little too high.

Detailed interior (restaurant tables) but uniformly green.

History

The ARmh216 are mixed 1st class / restaurant cars built in 1954-55 by Wegmann and O & K. They were 2nd class (BR4ümg-54) at the beginning, they become 1st class in 1956 when the 3rd class was abolished (AR4ümg-54), then called ARümh216 in 1966 and finally ARmh216 in 1975.

According to the sources, their number ranges from 8 to 16, UIC numbers 51 80 84-43 001 to 84-43 016. They include three compartments of 6 seats, a dining room with 30 seats and a kitchen.

Mass: 39.5 t. Speed limit: 140 km/h. Minden-Deutz bogies.

The livery was first uniformly blue (photo), then blue (for the compartments) and red (for the restaurant), and finally blue ocean/beige from 1974.
